Facilitating Real Engagement: Practice + Feedback Lab

A 3-part live lab for facilitators who want people to actually say what they’re thinking

What this is

It’s a small, interactive lab where you’ll:

  • practice facilitation in real time

  • experience structures that invite honest participation

  • reflect on what helps people open up (and what shuts things down)

  • get feedback in a supportive, low-pressure environment

What we’ll explore

Session 1 — Thursday 5/21 | 12:00–1:30 PM PST

Why your workshops/meetings aren’t getting honest input (and what to do instead)
We’ll look at the subtle dynamics that keep people in “polite mode” and try a simple structure that invites more honest participation.

Session 2 — Thursday 5/28 | 12:00–1:30 PM PST

Designing participatory sessions that don’t fall flat
We’ll explore how to design for engagement from the start—so people know how to participate and actually want to.

Session 3 — Thursday 6/4 | 12:00–1:30 PM PST

How to facilitate vulnerability without forcing it
We’ll practice creating conditions where real conversation can emerge—without pushing people past their edge.

What you’ll walk away with

  • ways to help people speak more honestly (without forcing it)

  • tools to shift flat or performative conversations

  • a clearer sense of how to design for engagement

  • more confidence facilitating real, human conversations

This is for you if…

  • You facilitate meetings, workshops, or group spaces

  • You’ve felt conversations stay surface-level or polite

  • You want people to engage more fully—but don’t want to force vulnerability

  • You’re curious about blending structure, play, and real connection
